देश का दूसरा एवं अविभाजित बिहार (बिहार एवं झारखंड का पहला शिशु मंदिर 1954 ई0 में भारती विद्या मंदिर के नाम से छपरा में करिया बाबा मंदिर के नजदीक सरयू नदी के किनारे प्रारंभ हुआ। चूंकि उस समय शिशु मंदिरों का कोई अखिल भारतीय स्वरूप नहीं था इसलिए स्थानीय कार्यक्रताओं ने भारती विद्या मंदिर के नाम से ही विद्यालय की शुरुआत की प्रथम प्रधानाचार्य स्व० रामउदार तिवारी थे।
